Photo Album Changes
We are moving the MountainBrook Village Photo Gallery to a different site. The old gallery at pbase.com has served us pretty well, but by moving to our own server we will have more control over our photos and more options.
While we are transitioning, the old photos will be on the old site
http://www.pbase.com/mbvillage/mbv
.
New photos can be viewed on the new site http://mountainbrookvillage.net/coppermine/
.
We hope you enjoy the photos. If you would like to submit pictures for
inclusion in the gallery, leave a CD at the office to the attention of
the Web Team, or e-mail them to
webteam@mountainbrookvillage.org . The best resolution for the
photos is 1024 x 768 pixels.
Is our MountainBrook Village Web Site Ever Visited ?
You may be surprised at the amount of traffic our web site handles. This chart is a compilation of usage for part of this year showing a total of 38,482
actual visits in the last six months alone. This is somewhat astounding for a community of our size, and the Web Team would like to thank you for your continuing support.

Ironwood Computer Center
The Ironwood Computer Center was authorized by the Board of
Directors and created by the Web Site Committee in 2006 (see the
Mountaineer article in the
March '06 edition
pages 3 and 8). Prior to that, the computer center consisted of
three computers in a back room of the library. We now have eight
desktop computers in a dedicated room beside the pools. There is also
Wi-Fi connectivity available for use.
The computers and the printer in the Center have been donated by
MountainBrook Village residents and refurbished by the Web Committee.
They are old, but they still work most of the time. Please be patient
when they don't always work as expected. A white board is provided in
the room to alert the Team of problems.
Printing is available on the laser printer from any wireless or
desktop computer in the room. The laser printer was chosen because
it's toner cartridges last longer than ink-jet ones, and it will still
provide black and white documents such as boarding passes. Toner
cartridge refills cost about $50.00 each, so we have placed a
collection box in the room for replacements when needed. No paper is
provided, so please bring your own paper if you need hard copies.
Please use the sign-in sheet when using the computer center. The
sheets will document that the facility is useful and needed by the
community. Remember, the computer center is only for Homeowners and
their guests 18 years and older. Be careful who you let into the room
if they have no key fob. The only security person present in the room
is You.
Please do not try to customize computers to suit your own tastes. They
are provided for the community at large, and individualized start
pages or startup programs only defeat that purpose and are detrimental
to the machine's usefulness to others. Be considerate of your
neighbors.
Pornography: Pornography has been popping up on
the computer screens recently. The only way this happens is by a
Homeowner or Guest of a Homeowner viewing porn sites. The Web Team has
been trying to combat this situation, but much of it is beyond our
control, and no matter what we do, there is still a possibility that
an objectionable image may appear on the screen of a computer you are
using. If it happens to you, please contact the office and tell them
which computer you were using, and we will address the problem. Also,
respect and enforce the age restriction rule, no one under
18 years old. We do not want to expose our children or
grandchildren to this situation. The Board and the Web Team are
pursuing solutions to the problem at this time.
Update: We have installed a content filter on
the computer center network which should greatly alleviate the
pornography problem. Please report any objectionable images to the
office, and we will take action to try to eliminate their occurrence.
Web Site Committee Meeting Minutes
The Web Site Committee is a chartered committee, and as such, our discussions may be of interest to some. Our committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Mesquite room at 9:45 after Coffee and News. Please join us if you have computer skills and would like to help.
Click here for the minutes of our last meeting.
Please help us keep the Village web site up to date.
There are many ways you can help us keep these pages up to date and improve the usefulness and enjoyment of your MountainBrook Village web site, whether you are a volunteer, committee member, committee leader,
activity leader or interested villager
-
Check the Contact List page to see that activity leaders names and phone numbers are correct.
- Check the Activity pages found under Site Index to see if your activity is up to date. This is your opportunity to describe and promote your activity, as well as make
announcements of upcoming events. Everything is there, from Aerobics to Yoga, and if your activity happens to be missing, we can put it there.
-
Check the Recurring Daily Activities calendar to see that if your activity is shown, the days and times are correct.
-
If you have taken photos at any event you have attended, or if you have some nice photos pertaining to the Village that you would like to share, please let us know, and we will show them on our Photo Gallery.
You can contact the Web Committee by sending an e-mail to the webteam@mountainbrookvillage.org
or by contacting one of the team members listed below.
