MBV COFFEE, DONUTS AND LATEST NEWS
Tuesday, December 30, 2008
All announcements by Lifestyle
Director Julie Rychener unless otherwise indicated.
Good morning. Cis Haines will speak
for the Board of Directors this morning.
BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS by
Cis Haines:
(condensed)
● Good morning. Christmas came
early to MountainBrook Village when six of our vendors donated enough
money to purchase
four flat screen TVs to be connected to those plugs on the wall.
In about a week or so we will have them installed so we would
like to thank those vendors--Coy Landscaping, GV Publications who did
our last Phone Directory, Noble Air Conditioning, RightAway
Disposal, Rays Printing and Sam's Club. David has been working
hard to collect this money and so far he has gotten $7,080. If
you come to Coffee and News next week you will be able to thank them in
person;
● An update on the bathhouse, the floor has
been completed, the drains do drain and the showers are open.
● On January 5th they will start the pool and deck renovation,
weather permitting.
● This building, the Superstition Center, we have new thresholds
on order for the double doors and they will be put in and tested to
be sure it makes those doors water tight. If that is the case,
thresholds will be placed on all the doors, insuring the whole building
will be water tight; then the company will replace the floor at no
cost, as part of the contract. We are hoping it will not affect
any of
the events as we will be trying to work around them but would like to
make you aware of what is coming down.
● In 2009 we will be getting estimates to finish the road at the
end of MountainBrook Drive as the Fire Department will no longer plan
on putting in a gate due to the estimating price of the project which
went from $30,000 to $90,000.
● I have some bad news for the "MountainBrook toilet paper thief".
We have a new supply company who will be updating all of our supplies
and dispensers with new green products and the dispensers will hold a 9
inch roll so that should discourage our thief and
create a savings to us as well.
● And finally, Happy New Year. The Corporation Commission
ordered the Sewer Rate reduction to take place as of January 1st at
the new rate of $52.42, guaranteed for five years, however, two of the
years have already gone by so we only have 3 more years before
they can try to hit us again. I think we have proven that we
really are a hard sell and these people will really have to do
their own
work before they do any kind of increase the next time.
● Remember there are only 25 days left until January 23rd to pick
up your candidate form to run for the Board of Directors. The
next board meeting is January 27th. Thank you.
NEW RESIDENTS: Tom & Janet DeLong,
Baldwin, Wisconsin, Mohave Sage Dr.
I know we had a lot of renters come in yesterday so is you have any as
neighbors or know of any new arrivals, please invite them
to Coffee and News so they can find out what is going on.
Don't forget the Gold Canyon and
Apache Junction Food Bank are both in dire need of non-perishable
food items. I had a suggestion that when you come to Coffee &
News, you might bring some canned goods and for those who did bring
something
today, or if you want to bring it to the office, I want to thank
you and we will get it over to the Food Bank shortly.
SPEAKERS:
Ron Hofmeister: I want to remind you that two weeks from today
reserved seat tickets will go on sale for the latest production of the
Village Players called "Busybody" on February 26, 27, 28 and March 1,
2009. One change will be for Sunday as it will start at 7:00 p.m.
instead the usual 5:00 p.m. because the beginning of the play requires
total darkness. We are also looking for a couple more
ticket sellers which is a fun job if you would like to volunteer.
● Jim:
I would like to give a very special thanks to Ralph and Diana and all of the volunteers for the
beautiful work done on the trees and Luminaries.
● You are all
invited to
the sixth Annual recital. It is a musical program which features people
here in MBV such as Nancy Virden, Marty Robison, LeRoy as well as Bob Messner. This is a free program and we even have refreshments afterwards.
We have the Pro Arts Trio made up of residents associated with the Arts Council
here in Gold Canyon and George Starkel from the Az Oprey. It is at 3:00 p.m. on
January 11 here in the Superstition Center. Please come. Hope to see
you there.
Joan Archer asked me to remind you that the Christmas decorations
will be taken down on December 31 beginning at 9am. except for those
here in front of the center and in the entry way. We need
volunteers so call me at home if you can help as with enough people it
should take no more than 45 minutes. Bob and Joan will take down the
rest on New Year's Day and thank you for all your help.
Especially 4 U Travel - Patty: I have
business cards on the table now that you can call me at home to make
reservations if you
like or you can call the office, and I have some brochures and
flyers here for you to come up and look at. There is also a

www.mountainbrookvillage.org. Thank you very much and have
a Happy New Year.
