Aerobics for the Mind lectures are held in the Sunset Room.
$2 donation at the door will be appreciated.
None are currently scheduled.
There are a couple of things that we need to bring to your attention:
1. We are getting toward the end of the season for our AFTM activities. To date,
we have had speakers on Religion, National
Healthcare Program, Pinal County Sheriff activities,
and Exercise and Health. For April 7th, we
have Dr. Mark Spencer of ASU scheduled to speak to
us on "New Developments in the field of
Evolutionary Science." Please note these on
your calendars and please encourage your friends and
neighbors to join us.
2. Regarding our
activities for next year, we want your feedback as
to whether we should consider having speakers on a
bimonthly basis, some other frequency, or continue
with the current monthly program. We believe
that these activities enhance the attractiveness of
our community.
3. As you are
aware, AFTM has been lucky in getting speakers who
have not asked for any compensation; notwithstanding
that, they do incur costs in hard cash and time to
make their presentations to us. It is time for
us to find the funds to provide each speaker with a
reasonable honorarium. The last two meetings we set a basket out for your
volunteer contributions, and we collected $104.
We used part of those funds to buy lunch for the
speakers (team members bought their own lunch).
However, we are not confident that volunteer
contributions will enable us to pay the honorariums.
This is a problem, and we need your help in finding a
solution.
4. Earlier this year we
approached the MBV Board for funds but were turned
down. It is now MBV election season, and
perhaps the right time to let the candidates know
that we want to count on their support for AFTM.
If we do have 14 presentations a year, we will not
need more than $1,500 a season.
5.
Finally, some of us would like to encourage other
types of activities such as panel discussions, group
discussions, debates or whatever format there may be
interest in. If you have such interest and are
willing to take the lead, please let us know and we
will do what we can to help in that endeavor.
Thank you for your attention to the above.
Please give it some serious thought and respond with
your feedback to Boniface
Thayil at 983-3110
or e-mail onlyhiteck@msn.com.
We look forward to seeing all of you at our next lecture.
Boniface @ 983-3110.

workshop where members share their knowledge. Tuesday
mornings, after coffee and donuts, are reserved for

a month as soon as we line up some teachers.
The group carries some basic paints, glazes,
and special decorating products funded by both a $5 monthly
fee and the firing fee. Exotic or special decorations (such as
decals) are the responsibility of the ceramicist. The charge
to fire a piece is 20% of the purchase price. Firing is
handled by group members who are trained in the art.

During the month of
January your Library volunteers kept track of donations and
returns. They processed 877 donations or
average of 29 items per day and processed 2104 returns or
average of 70 items per day. During January there were
approximately 300 items donated to care centers, military
schools, etc. Thanks to your generosity, your MBV
Library is a very busy place.
Your Library is open 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a
week.
Your MBV Library currently has 18 empty DVD cases but no Disc
inside. Please remember to check the DVD case to make
certain disc is inside when returning to library. Do
return all DVDs and VHS movies before leaving your house for
the end of the
season. You can donate magazines (last issues up to 3
months old) and put them directly into magazine area.
Also, there is a
newspaper rack for you to put in your hometown papers.
On Tuesday, March 31st your MBV Library
will have the 6th annual duplicate book give away in the
Superstition Center starting
at 8:00-10:00 a.m. This is your opportunity to take
books and movies home to your local care centers, schools,
etc. In the past
many residents have asked to make a money donation at this
book give away but we do not maintain a Library treasury by
rather rely on resident generosity. A suggestion was
made to the Library volunteers to invite residents to donate
a toy for Andrea's
Closet. This would be only if a resident wished to do
this but of course everyone can take books if they do or do
not donate a toy.
Please refer to separate article in this month's Mountaineer
for information regarding Andrea's Closet.
